2022 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling
From a cooler vintage but with all the power, drive and grace you have come to expect. The '22 is a many-layered blend of the depth of the older block with the complexity of the young block. Lovely fruit/acid balance. Very pale straw, flinty green hues; aromas of lime zest, Meyer lemon, lemon sherbet, hints of cucumber and green melon; palate of lemon and lime, hints of white citrus blossom, soft powdery textural acidity, long, mineral, elegant. 97 pts and Best Riesling of WA (Ray Jordan)
2023 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling
So, so pretty on the nose, almost achingly so. It offers notes of lime blossom, crushed rocks, jasmine flower, tamarind, saffron, a hint of mustard seed, white pepper, juniper berry, apple cider apples (actually, more specifically, there is an aroma in here reminiscent of the "tang!" in scrumpy cider) and curry leaf—I could go on. In the mouth, the wine is concentrated and intense. The acid would almost hurt were it not for the slew of juicy, saliva-inducing salty characters in there. It is detailed, nuanced and exciting. 96 pts (Wine Advocate)
2024 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling
Pale straw-yellow in the glass, with a dried-floral bouquet which has elements of lemon pith and fresh green herbs (basil; parsley), while the palate is intense and reserved, balanced and dry, but also soft—and the acidity is not too in-your-face. However, as a young wine food would be highly recommended. And it will richly reward cellaring. Intense lime-juice in the long finish. 95 pts (Real Review)
