Light straw colour and a reserved varietal bouquet of subtle Turkish Delight, lychee and lemon-pith aromas. The palate has some of the richness and fullness of the grape but is reserved and subtle relative to most Aussie gewürzes. It's properly dry and has a charming textural richness while phenolics are well controlled. The result is very appealing balance and mouth-feel. (From the Chatsfield Vineyard)

The Chatsfield Vineyard in Mt Barker grows Riesling, Chardonnay, Shiraz and a little bit of Gewurztraminer on bush vines up to 40 years old. Yielding less than one tonne, the pink berried Gewurztraminer was hand-picked, chilled at 0C overnight, whole bunch pressed, and foot stomped to extract the flavours from the skins. It was then cool fermented in a stainless steel tank with aromatic yeast before maturing on lees in a French oak barrel for three months. The result is a delicate dry wine with hints of tropical guava, white flowers and citrus. 65 cases made.
For the first time ever, we have added a range of wines to the Duke's portfolio that are made from premium fruit sourced from other vineyards in Southwest Australia. Part of this decision was made because we want to showcase some of the other great expressions of cool climate wines that are being made in this part of the world.
