One of our all-time, most popular wines, this flies out of the door! The fruit was carefully selected to give fresh ripe characters resulting in an expressive, immediately accessible wine. This is the baby Magpie Hill — the wine you drink while you age the Reserve wine. Hay colour with green edges; aromas of golden delicious apple, honeysuckle, honeycomb, and honeydew melon; palate wider and more generous than Magpie Hill, juicy red apple, pineapple juice, slight cucumber skin with a mouth-filling fleshy structure. Limited quantity. 750ml.

Bright lemon lime tints in the glass. Lime curd, dried papaya and white flowers lift from the glass. Palate is fine and dry with serious flow and drive. Moves more to the lime fruit spectrum with a distinct saline minerality that offers character and interest. Goes very long to a crisp dry finish 18 NOV 2022

Appearance: pale hay, green hues

Palate: round ripe green and yellow apple, lime pith, good weight and texture, full mid palate, soft powdery texture, excellent citrus length with mineral flint elegance
Cool wet winter with a very high rainfall followed by a warm to hot and dry summer. The vines grew quickly developing excellent canopies. Delayed bud burst which affected flowering and gave lower yields. Whites and rosé had very complex aromatics and flavours with bright acidities. This was a cool vintage which allowed slow development of complex characters and beautiful acidities within the grapes.
The 2022 Single Vineyard Riesling was carefully selected to give fresh ripe characters, lifted aromatics and immediate appeal. Termed the baby Magpie Hill, and sourced from young block free run juice, combined with pressing from the old block, the intense aromatics and juicy plushness gives great width and weight. Aged on lees for two months to give weight and roundness, this was bottled in June and is ready, straight out of the gate. The Single Vineyard range of wines are great value as they are essentially the same vineyard source as the Magpie Hill Reserve range, over delivering on their price point. They are designed to be immediately accessible but can be aged for one to ten years. 128 cases made.
